A photo-etched metal sheet in 1:48 scale for a model of the American North American P-51D-5 Mustang fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
The P-51 Mustang is one of the best-known American fighters of the Second World War. It became famous for its long range, which let it escort bomber formations along the whole route, and the D version in particular became what most people today picture under the name Mustang: the bubble canopy and the cut-down fuselage spine gave the pilot the view to the rear that earlier versions lacked. The D-5 designation belongs to the early production batch of this version.
A photo-etched metal sheet in 1:48 scale worked out for a model of the Mustang. Photo-etched parts have a thickness that plastic parts from a kit cannot reach, so they are useful wherever the real subject carries thin sheet metal or wire and strap detail. The extent of the sheet and the kit it is worked out for are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Leave the parts in the sheet until their turn comes and cut them off with a sharp blade on a hard surface; a part broken out will bend and the remains of the tab will then stick out. Make the folds along the marked grooves over a straight edge, slowly and along the whole length at once. It is glued with super glue, which you should dose with a pin or a piece of wire, otherwise it overflows and fogs the surroundings. Wash and degrease the metal before painting and lay a thin coat of base paint under the shade, otherwise it will rub off the edges.
The set is intended for modelers who want to take the detail of a Mustang in 1:48 scale beyond the level of the kit parts. The aircraft kit, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
