SX-Art masking stencils for a Heinkel He 111 H-3 model in 1:48 scale. The self-adhesive masks make spraying sharp edges easier without sticking decals on.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a set of self-adhesive masking stencils prepared for a model of the German Heinkel He 111 H-3 bomber in 1:48 scale, not a kit. The stencils are stuck to a model, oversprayed with paint, and once they are taken off a sharp transition remains, formed directly by the finish.
The He 111 is among the aircraft with an extensively glazed nose and cockpit, where the individual panes are difficult to mask with hand-cut tape. A precisely cut stencil shortens this work to a fraction and the frames come out even. Masks serve just as well for markings and colored stripes, which would otherwise have to be dealt with by a decal, which leaves a glossy edge on a matte finish and seats poorly over riveting.
Stick the masks to a perfectly cured and degreased surface and press the edges down carefully, above all around the frames of the glazing. Block the remaining uncovered areas off with masking tape or masking fluid. Spray thinned paint at a low pressure in several thin coats, so that it does not run under the edge. Take the masks off shortly after the paint has set, with tweezers at a sharp angle. Reckon with single use.
The package contains the masking stencils alone. A model, paints and thinners are not part of it.
