Russian naval crew, figure number 2, in 1:48 scale from the maker Offset Scale Models. A casting in its own right for aircraft and deck scenes.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a figure, not a kit of equipment. The casting represents a member of a Russian naval crew in 1:48 scale and carries the designation number two within the loose line of the maker Offset Scale Models. Figures of this kind are used to bring scenes around models of aircraft and deck equipment to life: without a human figure the viewer can hardly judge the size of the machine and the scene comes across as static. The pose of the figure, the kit and the number of parts of the casting are stated on the box.
First find the mold parting lines and sand them gently with a file or by drawing a scalpel along the surface, so that the modeling does not disappear. Then wash the casting in lukewarm water with dish soap and let it dry thoroughly — residues of the mold release agent cause the paint to crack and peel off once it has dried. Glue any separate parts, for example the hands or the headgear, with superglue in a minimal quantity.
Paint on a wooden stick before you seat the figure in the scene. A light gray primer in a thin coat reveals the shapes and brings out the shadows. Work from the large surfaces to the small details and apply rather more thin coats than one heavy one. Bring the recesses out with a darker shade and lighten the raised places slightly — in 1:48 scale contrast decides more than the amount of detail. Even the surface out with a matte clear coat and leave gloss only in the places where it makes sense.
The figure is supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
