A resin figure of a Soviet fighter pilot seated, together with a KS-4 ejection seat, in 1:48 scale from the Aerobonus brand (the Aires range). The seat is shaped for the cockpits of the Soviet Sukhoi Su-7, Su-9, Su-11, Su-15 and Su-17 jets. The torso is cast in the seat, while the head and arms are usually separate for a variable pose; it is a cockpit accessory, not an aircraft model.
The figure represents a pilot of the Soviet Air Force in the Cold War, when the Sukhoi machines of the Su-7 to Su-17 family served as fighter-bombers and interceptors. The pilot wears the kit of the day: a helmet, an oxygen mask and a flying suit with a harness. He fills an otherwise empty cockpit faithfully and gives the model realism in scale.
Resin parts for more experienced modelers: wash them to remove mold release residue, separate them from the casting blocks and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate), and protect your airways while sanding. Apply primer before painting, lay the paint down in thin coats and bring out the details with a wash. The head and arms are usually separate, so the pose can be adjusted slightly; check the fit dry.
