Soviet Stars in the Sky, black outlined red stars (2 in 1) is a sheet of national insignia in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker AML Decals, intended for Soviet aircraft of the Second World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a universal sheet of waterslide national insignia in 1:48 scale, not a kit. It holds red stars with a black outline in a range of sizes, so they can be used on the fuselage, the lower and upper wing surfaces and, depending on the type of aircraft, on the vertical tail as well. The designation 2 in 1 refers to the doubled contents of the sheet, thanks to which the set is enough for more than one model.
Soviet national insignia developed during the war. While plain red stars with no outline were used at the beginning of the conflict, in the later period stars with a white or black outline became established, which improved the legibility of the marking against a camouflaged surface. The black-outlined variant is rewarding precisely on the darker schemes of fighters and ground-attack aircraft, where a white outline looks too contrasty. A universal sheet also suits repairing damaged decals from the box or models whose original decals have fallen apart with age.
Apply the insignia to a smooth surface coated with gloss varnish and, before sticking them down, mark the position with a pencil or masking tape, so that the stars sit symmetrically on both halves of the wing. Cut the decal out closely, soak it in warm water and transfer it with tweezers. A decal softener will settle the marking even over engraved lines and rows of rivets, and once dry, seal it with a matte varnish, which hides the transition of the film completely.
Decals are a modeling addition. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
