The wet transfers HGW 1:48 Spitfire HF Mk. VIII – Stencils with technical markings. Once the carrier film is taken off, only the print itself is left on the model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of service and warning markings for models of the high-altitude version of the Spitfire Mk. VIII aircraft in 1:48 scale. These are not classic decals, but wet transfers: the print is carried over onto the surface and the carrier film is taken off once dry, so that no glossy surround, which usually gives decals away, is left on the model.
There tends to be a great number of small technical markings on an aircraft, and with an ordinary decal an edge of carrier varnish appears around every one of them. On a matte camouflage finish and on polished metal alike, such a surround is prominent and can only be hidden with difficulty. A wet transfer does not leave this layer on the model at all, so the marking looks as though it had been sprayed on. The result tells above all on the large smooth surfaces of the wings and the fuselage.
Cut the particular marking out, soak it in warm water and wait for the backing paper to release. Place it on the model while it can still be moved and adjust the position. Then press the water out from under the transfer with a soft cloth and let it dry for several hours. Only then take the carrier film off and wash any remains of adhesive off with water. Work a few markings at a time, so that you have time for accurate placing.
This is not a model of the aircraft, but an accessory. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
