FOXBOT decal sheet 1:48 - technical lettering for the P-51 Mustang

Although the name does not use the word decals, the product is a decal sheet and contains technical markings for models of the P-51 Mustang in 1:48 scale. These are not masking stencils and not a kit: it is an add-on sheet with which the markings of a finished model are completed.

The real subject

The P-51 Mustang was a single-engine all-metal fighter with a laminar-flow wing section which, in the later versions with a supercharged V12 engine, was marked by great range and the ability to escort bomber formations over long distances. Its smooth, cleanly shaped airframe lets technical lettering stand out well.

The age of a sheet and storage

• Store decals dry, in the dark and flat; damp and light damage the film gradually.
• Before applying them, try one edge piece. If the film tears when soaked, the sheet has dried out.
• A dried-out sheet can be saved by a thin layer of clear gloss varnish applied over the whole sheet and left to cure properly - that strengthens the film.
• Leave older decals in the water somewhat longer, but never the whole sheet at once.
• When the adhesive has weakened, it helps to apply the decal into a thin layer of gloss varnish instead of plain water.

Who the set is for

For modelers who build the Mustang and want legible technical lettering that matches reality. Applying it is slow but technically undemanding, so the set is usable even by less experienced builders with enough patience.

This is an accessory for a kit. The model, paints, varnish and a decal softener are not included in the package.
