Pre-cut New Ware kabuki masks for the model of the two-seat Su-30MK combat aircraft in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit and not parts of a model — the package holds self-adhesive masks only, which save you cutting tape with a scalpel and measuring the glazing frames. Kabuki tape is thin, paper-based and pliable: it adapts to the rounded surfaces of the canopy, holds on an edge and leaves no adhesive behind. The BASIC designation places the set in the basic standard of the maker's three-step range (BASIC, ADVANCED, EXPERT), which differ in the extent of the areas covered. The exact list of parts is given in the instructions in the package. If you want to cover more than the basics, reach for a higher standard of the same type and scale.
Su-30MK is the designation of the export multirole branch of the Su-30 family, which grows out of the Su-27 design. It is a twin-engine aircraft with a tandem cockpit for two crew and with long glazing divided into several parts. The individual standards of this branch differ from one another according to the customer, including the shape and the division of the canopy — which is why it pays to compare the shape of the parts with your own model when buying masks.
Wash the glazing in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap first and let it dry freely. Transfer the masks with tweezers, seat them dry and press the edges down with a blunt tool so that paint cannot creep under them. Apply the paint in several light coats instead of one heavy one — a thin coat does not break at the edge of the mask and leaves no step. The proven order is the interior shade, then the primer and the top camouflage last. Take the masks off shortly after the paint has flashed off, pulling them back over themselves at a sharp angle.
The package contains masks only. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
