This item is not a kit of the aircraft but a detail accessory. It replaces the plastic landing gear legs of a Su-27 model in 1:48 scale with parts in metal. A model of this type is among the large and heavy ones in 1:48 scale, so it stands and rests with its whole weight precisely on the landing gear. Metal in this place solves two problems at once, load-bearing and fineness of shape.
Plastic legs on large, heavy models bend over time, especially when a model is displayed in the warm or in the sun. After a year or two the model sits lower and it shows. A metal part keeps its shape for good and will take an additional load as well, for instance the weight in the nose that aircraft with a nose wheel usually need. Metal also allows thinner struts and cleaner transitions than an injection mold permits.
The Su-27 is a Soviet twin-engine fighter of the heavy category with a blended wing-body layout and a pair of vertical tail surfaces. Its high takeoff weight and operation from less prepared surfaces were reflected in a robust landing gear structure, including a substantial nose leg under the cockpit.
Before gluing, check dry how the metal part seats into the bay and, if need be, widen the bay carefully. Glue with epoxy or with a thicker cyanoacrylate, as a joint carrying weight needs an area, not a point. Degrease the metal and spray a primer, ideally in two thin coats. Finish painting the landing gear before you stand the model on its legs, as touching in a loaded joint is awkward. If you are adding weight to the model, weigh it in advance and place it as close to the nose as possible.
This is an accessory for building a model, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
