Supermarine Spitfire Mk.VIII over Europe in 1:48 scale is a set of wet decals from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. It is not a kit but markings and national insignia for a model of the Spitfire Mk.VIII fighter that you build from a plastic kit.

This item is a set of decals, not a model. It contains markings for the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.VIII fighter in 1:48 scale and is tied to the theme of machines operating over Europe, as the name of the set suggests. The decals are published by the Czech company Eduard, whose sheets are printed with an eye to a thin carrier film and accurate register. The set lets you finish an already built model in a color scheme other than the one the kit box offers.
The Spitfire Mk.VIII was a fighter variant with a two-stage supercharged Merlin 60 series engine. It differed from the older versions in a strengthened structure, a retractable tailwheel and a modified fuel system. It was the unpressurized counterpart of the high-altitude Mk.VII, built in large numbers and used on several fronts. The wings were supplied in several span variants, which shows on models as different wing tips.
Apply the decals to a smooth gloss surface; a matte finish creates microscopic unevenness and a whitish veil appears under the decal. Cut the item out as closely as you can, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it release on a paper tissue, and only then transfer it to the model. The position is fine-tuned with a brush and a little water. On riveted and intricate areas use a softener so that the decal is drawn into the engraved lines. Once it has dried, wipe the surface with clean water and seal the whole model with a matte or satin clear coat according to the look you want.
The set contains decals only. The kit, paints and clear coats are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
