Self-adhesive painting masks from the Czech manufacturer AML for a model of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.XIVc fighter in 1:48 scale. This is an accessory for painting, not a kit: you stick the pre-cut masks on following the camouflage pattern, spray over them and, once they are lifted off, you have an accurate boundary between the colors with no touching up by hand. The greatest benefit lies in the certainty of the result, as the scheme fits the first time and both sides of the model are symmetrical.
The Spitfire Mk.XIV marked a fundamental leap in performance: in place of the Merlin it was powered by the powerful Rolls-Royce Griffon engine turning a five-blade propeller. Aircraft of the Mk.XIVc version with the type C wing entered service in 1944, excelled in climb and in speed at low altitude and were also used successfully against the V-1 flying bombs. The camouflage consisted of the standard British scheme of gray and green.
Work out the order of the colors before spraying: the lighter shade first, then stick the masks on once it has dried and spray the darker one. Press the edges of the masks down with a soft squeegee and lay the paint on in two thin coats at low pressure. Store the sheet of masks flat with its cover paper so that the film does not dry out until you use it.
These are painting masks, an accessory for painting. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
