A turned barrel for the M10 in 1:48 scale from Aber: a metal replacement for the 76.2 mm barrel. It is not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A turned metal barrel in 1:48 scale for a model of the American M10 tank destroyer, that is for a gun of 76.2 mm caliber. This is not a kit but a replacement for a plastic part. In the smaller scale a plastic barrel is thinner and more liable to bend, so a metal replacement pays off even more than on larger models.
The M10 was an American tank destroyer on the chassis of a medium tank, with an open five-sided turret and a 3-inch gun. Its lighter armor was balanced by speed and by a doctrine under which it was to engage from prepared positions and move quickly. It served with American as well as Allied units, and the British army made a version of it with an even more powerful weapon by a modification of its own.
Cut the plastic barrel off as close to the turret as possible and drill the mating surface so that the pin of the metal barrel seats firmly but does not pass right through. Degrease the metal with alcohol and apply primer, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. It is glued with super glue, that is with cyanoacrylate, drop by drop. Fit the barrel only at the end of the build, so that it does not bend during handling, and check its axis by looking from the front while the glue sets. In the smaller scale dose the glue really sparingly, because even a small drop overflows and shows.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
