Aviattic: a five-color lozenge on a white backing 1:48: a decal sheet intended above all for making rib tapes; the opaque white backing keeps the pattern fully saturated even over a dark covering.
Responsibility details are not available.
An Aviattic decal sheet with a five-color polygonal lozenge pattern, printed on a white backing (white decal paper). The opaque white backing holds the full saturation of the print even over dark areas, which is why the sheet is intended above all for cutting rib tapes, the narrow strips that complete the characteristic structure of a fabric covering on a model.
On the real German aircraft of the First World War the stitching of the covering at the ribs was overlaid with glued fabric tapes, which were often cut straight from the covering fabric and therefore carried the same polygonal pattern. It is precisely these tapes that make a lozenge covering look convincing, because without them the surfaces of the wings look empty and flat at scale.
Cover the main areas with decals or spray them and let them dry thoroughly. Then cut narrow straight strips from the sheet with a sharp blade along a steel rule, because in 1:48 scale a consistent width is the key. Lay the tapes over the lines of the ribs, vary the orientation of the pattern according to the documentation and use softener to settle them. Even the finished surface out with a satin or matte clear coat.
This is a decal sheet, an accessory to a model. The aircraft kit, the paints and the glue are not included in the package.
