An Aviattic decal sheet with the five-color night lozenge pattern for the lower surfaces, printed in the full width of a strip of fabric on an opaque white backing (white decal paper). It forms the counterpart to the sheet for the upper surfaces, and together they let you dress a model of a night machine in a complete, authentically laid covering.
On German night bombers of the First World War the lower surfaces were darkened too, so that the machine would not stand out against the night sky. Preprinted fabric was laid onto the wings in widths of a given size; printing in the full width of the pattern carries this method faithfully into scale, because the modeler cuts and lays out the widths themselves, including the characteristic joins. The lower surfaces are often the first thing a viewer sees on a hanging model or in a diorama, so careful laying pays off.
Cut the strips to the width of a width of fabric and lay them parallel, with the same orientation of the pattern as on the upper surfaces, so that the covering carries over at the leading edge. A white backing holds the saturation even over a light surface, yet we still recommend a smooth glossy base. Put the remains of the sheet to use as rib tapes. At the end, even the surface out with a matte clear coat, which suits night machines best.
This is a decal sheet, an accessory to a model. The aircraft kit, the paints and the glue are not included in the package.
