This item is not a kit of an aircraft but a set from Eduard's SPACE range — 3D decals. The motifs are printed on decal paper with a three-dimensional relief and in color, so on a model they look like relief detail that is already painted, while all you do is lift them off the moistened backing paper. The set is intended for the interior of a model of the Zlin Z-226 in 1:48 scale and offers a quick route to a worked-up cockpit without cutting, sanding and working with resin.
The Zlin Z-226 belongs to the family of Czech all-metal trainer and aerobatic aircraft of the 1950s with fixed landing gear and an inline engine. Machines of this family were used for basic and advanced training, for glider towing and, in the aerobatic versions, for competition flying, where they held their own in international company. On the two-seat versions the cockpit is easy to see into, so the fit of the instrument panels and the side walls really does show on a finished model.
Prepare a smooth glossy surface, otherwise a matte clouding will be left around the decals. Cut the motifs close and moisten only the backing paper under them; a sponge with a drop of detergent is enough. Lift the relief elements off with tweezers and seat them at the first attempt, not by pressing across the surface. Blot the remaining moisture with a cotton bud, fix the element with white PVA glue and let it dry thoroughly. A decal softener does not belong on these elements, as its chemistry attacks the printed resin. Finally even the surface out with a matte varnish; a drop of clear gloss varnish on the dials imitates the glass of the instruments.
This is an accessory, not a model. The kit, varnishes and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
