The Quickwheel 1:72 Bedford masking set serves for painting the wheels of the British military cargo truck. The set is cut for the IBG kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of pre-cut masks with which you cover the area of a wheel that is to stay in a different color from the rest. It is not a kit or an extra part, but an aid for painting. It makes most sense on cargo trucks, because their wheels are large, few in number and dominant in the view of a finished model.
The Bedford is a British medium-class military cargo truck from the period of the Second World War. Against tracked vehicles the situation here is reversed: instead of dozens of small discs you are dealing with several large wheels with a coarse off-road tread and a pronounced disc in the middle. The wheels on both axles are single, so they are all of the same diameter and look alike, which means they are compared with one another and any difference in the width of a painted rim is immediately apparent. A spare wheel belongs with the vehicle as well, carried in a visible place and often close to the eye in a finished diorama. The tall profile of the tire also allows a genuinely sharp border to be made between rubber and rim, which cannot be told so well on the small rollers of tracked equipment.
Clear the wheel of grease, spray the base color and let it cure properly. Lay the mask on first and check whether it seats on the casting. Only then press it down and apply the paint in several thin coats, ideally square to the face of the wheel. Once it has dried, lift the mask off carefully, best with pointed tweezers from the edge. Finish the wheels before you fit them to the axles.
The set is an accessory for painting. Paints, glue and the kit itself are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
