Decals in 1:72 scale for the British Boulton Paul Defiant fighter, concentrating on its night duty with the RAF.
Responsibility details are not available.
A decal sheet in 1:72 scale for a model of the Boulton Paul Defiant. The theme is the night service of this type with the Royal Air Force, that is the period when the Defiant found the use it had lacked by day. The markings of night machines are rewarding exactly because of the contrast: a dark surface with only a few clearly legible elements on it.
The Defiant was a British single-engine fighter with a crew of two and a rotating gun turret behind the pilot. It did not fire forward; all its defensive and offensive strength was concentrated in the turret with four machine guns. By day it turned out that such a solution was a disadvantage against single-seat fighters, and the machines therefore moved to night work, where their heaviness mattered less and where the gunner came into his own.
The wet method is the usual one: cut the element out close to the printing, dip it briefly in lukewarm water and let it stand until it starts to slide freely off the backing. Slide it onto a dampened spot on the model, straighten it with a soft brush and blot off the excess water. Decals silver most easily on a matte night finish, so coat the surface to a gloss beforehand and bring the matte look back only at the end. Before you soak the sheet, check in the instructions whether it is a self-adhesive version; a self-adhesive film that has been soaked is ruined beyond repair.
For modelers interested in British aviation and in less usual designs. The placing of the elements is described in the instructions in the package.
The package holds decals. The kit, the paints, the varnish and the decal softener are not included, unless stated otherwise.
