A set of masks in kabuki tape for a model of the C-27J Spartan transport aircraft in 1:72 scale, in the basic Basic extent.
Responsibility details are not available.
The C-27J Spartan is a twin-engine turboprop tactical transport aircraft. It is derived from the older G.222 type and is built to supply units where the landing strips are short and unpaved: it has a high-mounted wing, rugged landing gear and a cargo ramp in the tail. It serves with a number of European and overseas air forces.
These are masks cut from kabuki tape for a model of the C-27J Spartan in 1:72 scale. Kabuki tape is thin and pliable, so it conforms well to the curvature of glazed surfaces and does not ripple along the edges. The manufacturer distinguishes several grades of extent in this line; this item is in the basic Basic grade, while the wider Expert grade covers a greater number of areas. Which areas the set covers and which kit it is cut for are stated by the manufacturer on the packaging.
The masks are stuck onto a clean and degreased surface before spraying. Lift them off the backing sheet with the tip of your tweezers, seat them in place and press the edges down carefully so that paint does not flow under them. Apply the paint in several light coats; a heavy application builds up at the edge and leaves a step once the mask is removed. Take the mask off shortly after the paint has dried and do not pull it sideways, but at an angle upwards and back over itself.
The set suits anyone who does not want to cover glazed areas with tape cut by hand and wants crisp frames. The delivery holds the masks themselves; the model, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
