A model of the British Churchill Mk.III infantry tank in 1:72 scale from the finished Dragon Armor collector's range. It is not a kit: the model comes assembled and painted from the factory, markings included, and goes straight into the display case once unpacked. The construction combines a metal lower hull with plastic parts for the superstructure and the fittings, and the turret rotates. The finish matches a vehicle of the 1st Canadian Army Tank Brigade at Dieppe in 1942.
The Churchill was a British infantry tank designed to accompany infantry, that is, to move slowly across country with heavy armor rather than to maneuver quickly. Its characteristic feature was the tall track run carried along the whole length of the hull with a great many small road wheels, which gave the vehicle an exceptional ability to cross broken ground and climb slopes. The Mk.III version received a welded turret with the 57 mm six-pounder gun, and compared with the earlier versions it dispensed with the hull howitzer. Churchill Mk.IIIs were used in the landing at Dieppe on 19 August 1942, where they met difficult going on the shingle beach and a steep sea wall; the experience of that action strongly influenced the preparation of later landing operations and the development of the specialized engineering vehicles derived from the Churchill.
The most fragile parts are the gun barrel, the exhaust pipes and the handles; handle the model by the hull and do not lift it by the turret. Remove dust with a soft brush, as damp and alcohol-based cleaners harm the printing and the markings. Display it out of direct sunlight. The model can be combined with models and accessories in 1:72 scale.
The model is supplied finished, assembled and painted. It is not a kit, and no glue or paints are needed.
