A decal sheet meant to complete a finished model, not a kit. According to the name it carries the paintings on the noses of the machines and technical inscriptions. This is the fifth part of the multi-part range the manufacturer issues for this type as separate sheets. The contents of the sheet, the number of schemes and the names of the machines are given on the packaging.

Use

• The soaking time decides everything. Dip the decal in lukewarm water for a few seconds and take it out together with the paper before it releases by itself. The design will then slide exactly where you want it, instead of floating about on the surface.
• The water should be lukewarm, not hot. Hot water releases the adhesive too quickly and the decal loses its grip.
• Once it is out, let the decal rest for a while on a paper towel. The adhesive dissolves evenly in the meantime and the film will slide off the backing paper without being pulled.
• Moisten the place where you are seating the decal beforehand. On a damp surface the design can be moved and aligned; on a dry one it grips wherever it lands.
• Blot the excess water away with a soft cloth by pressing from above, not by drawing it sideways, so that the film does not shift.
• Leave the model undisturbed to dry for several hours before the next steps. Varnish applied to a decal that is not fully dry can seal moisture under the film and cloud it.

The real subject

The Douglas C-47 was a twin-engine military transport aircraft derived from the DC-3 airliner. It carried cargo and paratroopers, towed gliders and served to evacuate the wounded; thanks to its reliability and simple maintenance it stayed in service for decades. Individual paintings on the noses of the machines were part of its characteristic look.
