Decals 1:72 Messerschmitt Bf 109 V-3 and V-4 in the Condor Legion — a sheet from AML with markings for the Bf 109 prototypes deployed for trials in the Spanish Civil War.
Responsibility details are not available.
This decal sheet from the Czech manufacturer AML in 1:72 scale covers an exceptional subject: the Messerschmitt Bf 109 V-3 and V-4 prototypes, which were sent to Spain to be proven in real service. For collectors of the development history of the Bf 109 it is a subject from the very beginning of the story of this type.
Even before production began, the early Bf 109 prototypes were sent to Spain so that the new monoplane could prove its qualities in the conditions of a real conflict. The V-3 and V-4 aircraft therefore stood at the very start of the combat career of a type that later became the backbone of the German fighter force. The prototypes differed from the production aircraft in details of the airframe and the equipment, and their restrained period markings give a model the unmistakable character of a test aircraft.
Simple schemes stand or fall by accuracy: measure the position of every item out in advance and mark it with a piece of masking tape. Apply the decals the wet way on a gloss base, settle them with a decal softener and coat over once dry. On test aircraft restrained weathering pays off, a clean aircraft rather than a worn veteran.
This is a decal sheet; the aircraft model is not included in the package.
