A short-run injection-molded kit of the British amphibious high-mobility Alvis Stalwart FV-622 cargo truck in the Mk.2 version in 1:72 scale from the Ukrainian manufacturer ACE. The package holds plastic parts, photo-etched sheet, rubber tires, decals and instructions. The model suits a display piece in its own right and a bold element in a diorama of British postwar equipment alike.
The Stalwart was a six-wheeled cargo truck with all-wheel drive developed by the British firm Alvis. It came about as an off-road carrier of cargo and fuel for units that had to move away from roads, and among soldiers it earned a nickname derived from its own name. The combination of high ground clearance, independent suspension and a watertight body let it cross water obstacles by swimming, and waterjets served to drive it in the water. It was in British army service from the second half of the 1960s and was still in use in the 1980s.
With a short-run tool, count on the parts needing to be cleaned of flash and sprue gates and on the main assemblies being tried dry. Finish and paint the chassis and the suspension before you close the body up, as you will no longer reach them afterwards. Bend the photo-etched parts over the edge of a steel ruler. British postwar equipment is commonly finished in matte olive green or in a three-tone camouflage. Once it is varnished, a dark wash into the recesses, a dry brush on the edges and light pigments on the lower part of the body and on the wheels suit it well and give the vehicle a dusty air.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
