The opening part of the markings for the British Javelin delta fighter, the F(AW) Mk.1 and Mk.2 versions. Eight machines of operational squadrons and of test establishments.
Responsibility details are not available.
In the 1950s the Royal Air Force was looking for a machine that could intercept a bomber at night and in any weather. The result was a massive twin-engined fighter with a triangular wing and with the tailplane set on top of the fin. It entered service in 1956 and became the first delta-winged type to reach operational use in the Royal Air Force. The crew consisted of two men, a pilot and a radar operator.
Eight machines of the first two production versions are given. Besides airplanes of operational squadrons there is an example carrying an inscription for an exercise of 1955, an example from a test establishment and a machine handed over to an aviation college, which had its intakes and fin in an orange warning color. With the individual items the serial numbers, the letter codes and in some cases the base and the month and year are given.
A large triangular wing means great continuous surfaces on which every mistake in the preparation of the surface shows. Before applying the decals, polish the surface and varnish it to a gloss. The roundels are settled on the wing over engraved lines, so you will not do without a softener.
The machines of this period flew in a uniform scheme and differed mainly in the unit markings on the fin. It is precisely those that make up the most valuable part of the sheet, and it is good to try their placing dry first. The package is decals only; you obtain the model separately.
