Half-ton light off-road vehicles form an inconspicuous but ever-present category in modern ground forces. They serve for liaison and reconnaissance duties, for carrying command personnel, for towing light trailers and as the universal mobile backup of a unit. In design terms it is an off-road vehicle with all-wheel drive, a closed or partly open body and equipment adapted to military service. The version designated V17 is one of the production variants adopted by the Japanese Self-Defense Forces.
Three identical vehicles are best built in series: do all the chassis at the same time, then all the bodies and only at the end put them together. You will save time and above all you will get a uniform result. For painting it pays to mount the vehicles on skewers, spray them all at once in one session and set them apart only by details, by weathering and by the degree of dustiness, so that they do not look like copies. A two-color scheme of dark green and brown is common on current Japanese equipment; make the transitions with an airbrush over thin strips of masking putty. Leave the windows and the lights until the end and fit the small mirrors after varnishing.
