This kit from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi captures the light armored vehicle of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force in 1:72 scale, this time in the commander version with a machine gun mounted on a roof fitting. Compared with the basic version the model therefore offers a more combat-looking silhouette and a little extra detail — it is precisely the roof armament that turns an unobtrusive four-wheeler into a striking subject.
The light armored vehicle from the Komatsu company has served the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force since the start of the 21st century as the standard armored car of the infantry units. The armor protects the crew against small-arms fire, and a machine gun can be placed on the roof mount for the vehicle's own fire support. The vehicles also proved themselves during the foreign deployment of the Japanese contingent in Iraq.
Paint the machine gun and its mount separately and fit them only at the end — you will avoid damaging the small part during handling. The camouflage of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces consists of green and brown in bold areas; in 1:72 scale slightly lightened shades look better. A fine wash around the hatches and the grilles will give the small model depth.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
