A photo-etched accessory set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for a model of the Lockheed C-130J-30 Hercules tactical transport aircraft in 1:72 scale. It is not a kit — the fret holds fine metal parts that are glued onto the base model and replace or supplement its plastic components. Before you buy, it is sensible to use the set's box to check the match with the kit you are building.
The C-130J-30 is the stretched variant of the C-130J Super Hercules, the newest development branch of the Hercules family. Against the basic version it has a longer fuselage and greater transport capacity. Power is provided by turboprop engines with six-blade propellers, the cockpit has digital avionics and is manned by a crew of two. The high-set wing, folding rear ramp and sturdy landing gear allow operation even from short and unpaved surfaces.
Working with photo-etching calls for calm: cut the parts off with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface, sand what is left of the tabs and degrease the area with alcohol. Fold in a photo-etch bender or between razor blades, so the edges stay sharp. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue in a minimal amount; on larger areas epoxy helps. Give the plastic underneath a base coat beforehand — on bare glossy plastic the metal holds considerably worse.
The set is an accessory, not a kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
