Responsibility details are not available.
A set of foot figures in 1:72 scale devoted to the British infantry of the Napoleonic period. The soldiers are modeled standing at ease, that is, in a relaxed stance with the weapon at the foot, which is a pose from a parade, a muster or waiting in reserve. The manufacturer is the firm Strelets; the castings are of soft plastic in one color and are supplied unpainted and unassembled.
The British line infantry was among the best trained units of its day and its characteristic red coat is to this day the most easily recognizable uniform of the Napoleonic wars. Drilled commands, among them standing at ease, were part of the daily life of a unit, because a close formation held together only thanks to repeated practice. Sets in resting poses therefore complement the more common figures in movement well and make it possible to build a scene before or after a fight.
The red uniform is the main task on these figures and at the same time the most frequent stumbling block, because red pigment has poor covering power. Always leave a light primer under it, therefore, and build the shade in two to three thin layers, never in one heavy one. Handle the shading with a dark brown wash rather than a black one, as black dirties the red and it then looks sooty. Draw the white crossbelts with a thin brush or as a thin line along the edge, or use a light gray base and white only as a highlight. Finish the trousers, the boots and the shako at the very end. Unify the finished set with matte clear; red tends to be glossier than its surroundings after a wash, and without clear coat you see it on a figure at first glance.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
