Armycast 1:72 — a masking set for present Russian red stars. Cut stencils for spraying markings onto models of contemporary equipment.
Responsibility details are not available.
A masking set in 1:72 scale from Armycast intended for spraying the markings of contemporary aviation equipment. The film is applied to finished paintwork, the star is sprayed in paint over it and the mask is taken off — the marking is then part of the paintwork, with no carrier film and no visible edge. The package is an accessory for an aircraft model and holds neither the model itself nor paints.
The set covers the present form of Russian aircraft markings, that is, a different variant from the period stars with a white or red and white edging of the Second World War and from the older postwar pattern as well. On contemporary equipment the insignia is placed according to the type of machine, most often on the fuselage, the fins and the wing, and its size differs with the dimensions of the aircraft. Always compare the particular placement and size with a drawing or a photograph of the subject, therefore; the contents of the sheet are stated on the box of the set.
Modern aircraft are often finished in a satin or silk varnish, on which masks hold well, but even so let the paintwork cure completely and degrease the area. Press the film down all the way around and spray with an airbrush at right angles in thin coats — a sharp edge comes from several light passes, not from one rich coat. On a multicolor insignia work from the lighter color to the darker one with masking over. Take the mask off shortly after it has dried, with tweezers at a sharp angle, and at the end unify the surface with a varnish in the degree of gloss you want.
This is a masking accessory, not a model. Paints, glue and a kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
