HGW 1:72 RAF late period – seat belts is a sheet of color belts for British aircraft of World War II, applied like a decal.
Responsibility details are not available.
Color-printed seat belts for the cockpits of models of British aircraft of the later part of World War II, 1:72 scale. It is not a kit but an interior accessory on decal paper. The set is applied like a decal, so the bending of metal parts and their painting both fall away. The exact contents of the sheet and the number of sets are not stated here; you will find the particular breakdown in the enclosed instructions.
British fighter and training aircraft used shoulder and lap straps with a central lock, whose guise developed during the war – from earlier assemblies to later reworkings with a different arrangement and shade of strap. That is precisely why the manufacturer carries the early and late guises as two separate sets, and both of them exist. The difference is apparent above all on models with a slid-back canopy.
Varnish the seat with gloss varnish, so that the decal seats without silvering. Cut the belt out as close to the printing as possible, soak it briefly in warm water and lift it off the backing. Lay it down with a soft brush and pull it in with decal softener, so that it follows the edges and the pressings. Once dry, go over it with matte varnish, and the buckles can be carefully accented with a dark wash or a dry brush.
The set holds only the belts; a model of an airplane and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
