A plastic kit of the support version of the Soviet T-26 light tank in 1:72 scale from UM. The vehicle is rendered in the version with a cylindrical turret and the 76.2 mm KT-28 gun, that is, with short-barreled artillery armament. This configuration differs from the otherwise identical version from the same manufacturer in the type of tracks: according to the name, the package holds tracks made of plastic, which are assembled and, once cemented, keep the shape of the sag.
The T-26 was a Soviet light tank based on the British Vickers design and in the 1930s it was one of the most numerous types in Soviet service. It went through several configurations, from the twin-turret form to the single-turret one. Besides the standard antitank armament, versions with a short-barreled gun of larger caliber also appeared, meant to support infantry and to act against fortified positions. The suspension stayed the same in all versions, with leaf springs and eight road wheels per side.
Plastic tracks are decisive for the result, but they take more work than flexible ones. Assemble them on a flat surface, cement them section by section with liquid glue and, before the glue sets, shape a natural sag between the return rollers. Paint the running gear and the inside of the hull before you fit the tracks, because you will not reach them later. Keep the turret separate until the spraying is done. Align the short barrel on the axis and clean up the parting line. Build the weathering step by step: base, wash, a dry brush on the edges and a dust pigment on the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
