The Armycast 1:72 U.S. Insignias June 1943 – Aug 1943 is a set of masking templates for spraying American national insignia of the summer of 1943 — the star with bars and a red surround.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set contains precisely die-cut masking templates for spraying American national insignia in 1:72 scale. It is neither decals nor a model; these are masks with which you spray the insignia directly in paint, so that the result fits perfectly into a matte surface and no decal edge catches the light anywhere. The set covers the briefly used variant of the insignia from the summer of 1943: a white star in a blue disc with white bars at the sides, the whole framed by a narrow red surround.
This type of insignia was introduced by the American air forces at the end of June 1943, when rectangular bars were added to the existing star in a disc for better recognition at a distance. The red surround proved confusing, however, and as early as August to September 1943 it was replaced by an insignia with a blue border. The insignia with the red surround therefore marks machines from a very narrow window of time and is a popular choice for precisely dated models.
For modelers of American aircraft of 1943 who prefer sprayed insignia to decals for their realistic matte surface and their resistance to peeling.
The package contains only the masking templates. Paints and the model are not included.
