1:32 Nakajima Ki-27 Nate National Insignia is a set of national insignia masks for models of the Japanese Ki-27 fighter in 1:32 scale. The markings are sprayed in paint, so they become part of the finish rather than a layer on it.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory from the Dead Design brand for Ki-27 models in the large 1:32 scale. It is not a kit but a set of masks meant for spraying the national insignia. The extent of the package, that is the number and sizes of the markings, is stated on the box of the set.
This is the main reason to reach for a mask instead of a decal. A sprayed marking lies in the same layer as the camouflage, so it behaves in the same way. You can sand flaking finish over it, make chips with a sponge, lay on a wash and dry pigment, and nowhere will you meet the edge of a film that would interrupt the effect. A decal, by contrast, tears when rubbed and a wash catches on its edge into a visible outline.
The eye knows a circle drawn freehand at once, even when the deviation is a tenth of a millimeter. At the large 1:32 scale the marking is big enough that irregularity of the perimeter cannot be hidden. A mask sets the line by machine, so two opposite wings get an identical marking.
Work on a perfectly cured base, otherwise the mask will peel the camouflage off when removed. Spray the red onto a light base, otherwise it will darken. If you plan chipping, do it after the mask is off, not through it. Finally bring the whole model into line with a matte or satin clear coat.
This is an accessory for a model. The kit, paints and clear coat are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
