A photo-etched metal set for a model of the EA-18G electronic warfare aircraft in 1:48 scale. The metal parts stand in for shapes that injection-molded plastic is too thick for.
Responsibility details are not available.
This photo-etched metal set is meant for a model of the EA-18G in 1:48 scale. Photo-etch can do what injection-molded plastic cannot: a part can be as genuinely thin as sheet metal. It is exactly where sheet should be sheet, that is on covers, grilles, loops and buckles, that the difference is visible on the finished model even without a magnifier.
The EA-18G is an American carrier-based electronic warfare aircraft. It derives from the two-seat version of the F/A-18F Super Hornet fighter-bomber and is told from an ordinary Super Hornet by the pods at the wingtips, which carry receiving equipment instead of missile pylons. In US Navy service it replaced the older EA-6B Prowler electronic warfare machine. The crew is a pilot and a systems officer sitting behind him.
The parts are held on the fret by small tabs. Cut them with a sharp blade on a hard surface and never snap a part off, as it will bend. Level the remains of the tab with a fine file. Make the bends along the scored lines and if possible in one movement, as repeated bending tires the metal and the part cracks. For gluing use cyanoacrylate applied drop by drop onto the edge of the part, as cement for polystyrene does not hold on metal. Degrease the area before painting and go over it with a primer. Which parts replace which parts of the kit is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The aircraft kit, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
