A set of photo-etched parts for a model of the Il-2 attack aircraft in the 1943 production form, 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Ilyushin Il-2 is a Soviet single-engine attack aircraft and one of the most numerously built combat machines of all. Its particularity is the armored tub, which forms the front of the fuselage outright and protects the pilot, the engine and the radiators. The 1943 form is two-seat: behind the pilot sits a rear gunner, who covers the rear hemisphere. The machine was meant for attacks on ground targets from low altitude, which its armament and sturdy build match.
Photo-etched parts in 1:48 scale. Photo-etch is thin metal sheet with an etched pattern, so a part comes out noticeably finer than molded plastic, which always has its own minimum possible thickness. The difference shows above all where sheet should be sheet: on the instrument panel, the straps, the radiator grilles and small covers. The extent of the set, the placing of the parts and the kit the set is cut for are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Separate the parts from the fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not with pliers; then sand the tab away with a fine-grit file. Make the bends in a bending tool or between two blades, in one movement, because repeated bending tires the metal and the part cracks. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied drop by drop with a pin, never straight from the bottle. Before painting, wash and degrease the photo-etch and use a primer made for metal, otherwise the paint will peel off the smooth surface.
The kit, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
