A set of photo-etched parts for models of the EA-18G carrier-based electronic warfare aircraft in 1:48 scale. An accessory to a finished kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The EA-18G Growler is an American two-seat carrier-based electronic warfare aircraft derived from the two-seat version of the Super Hornet. Its task is to jam enemy radars and communications and to open the way for a strike group. For that it carries jamming pods on its pylons and, at the wingtips, housings with receivers that pick up the transmissions of air defenses. Because of this equipment it lost its built-in gun. The rear seat belongs to the electronic warfare systems officer, so the cockpit is broken up inside and well in view.
These are photo-etched parts for 1:48 scale. Photo-etched sheet is thin and carries a pattern that a molded part at this scale cannot reach, which is why it is used where plastic is too coarse for the scale. Which parts of the model the set covers and where the individual parts go is given in the instructions supplied by the manufacturer, so compare the set with your own kit before the build.
The parts are held on the carrier sheet by narrow tabs; separate them with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not with pliers. Make the bends over the edge of a bending tool or a ruler. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied in a minute amount, and on larger areas epoxy suits, because it gives time to line the part up. Degrease the sheet before painting and apply a primer made for metal. Fit the parts for the cockpit before you close the fuselage up.
The aircraft kit, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
