A standalone photo-etched set from the Czech maker Eduard holding seat harness straps rendered in color for the pilot seats of an EA-18G model in 1:48 scale. The steel form is stiffer than ordinary brass photo-etch and at the same time can be formed so that the straps stay in the position you bend them into. It is the quickest targeted way to move the look of the cockpit forward; if you want to lift the whole cockpit area, larger photo-etched sets exist for the same aircraft.
Straps molded onto a plastic seat, or missing straps altogether, are immediately apparent when you look into the cockpit. Photo-etched straps have a realistic thickness, can be bent so that they drape freely over the edge of the seat and onto the floor, and the color printing takes the place of patiently painting the webbing, buckles and hardware with a brush. It is precisely the free, irregular run of the straps that gives a cockpit away fastest in a photograph.
Do not repaint steel photo-etch. Cut the parts out with a scalpel, form them with tweezers gradually and in small steps, so that the printing does not flake at the bend. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue in the absolute minimum; the gel version proves itself on straps, because it gives time to adjust the position. The plastic imitation of webbing on the seat is best sanded off before gluing. Sets of the same name exist in several versions cut for different kits, so check before buying which one matches your model.
This is an accessory set, not an airplane model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
