A set of waterslide decals, 1:72 Record-Breaking North American F-100 Super Sabre from the maker Print Scale, for models of the American supersonic fighter in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A sheet of waterslide decals in 1:72 scale focused on record-breaking machines of the F-100 Super Sabre type. It is an accessory for a finished model rather than a kit. The set makes it possible to complete a model in markings different from the box scheme. The extent of the sheet and the particular machines chosen are given on the box of the set.
The F-100 Super Sabre was the first American production fighter able to hold supersonic speed in level flight and became the first type of the so-called Century series. In the mid-1950s it set the absolute speed record, for the first time in history above the speed of sound. Besides record-breaking and demonstration machines the type served for many years with fighter and strike squadrons and later in its career with reserve units as well.
Record-breaking and demonstration machines tend to be in gloss finishes or in natural metal, and it is exactly such a surface that is ideal for decals, because it is smooth and free of any trace of texture. Do not, however, coat a metallic surface all over, as it would lose the character of metal; a thin layer of gloss coat just where the decal goes is enough, or apply the decal directly onto a well-polished metallic finish. Lay colored bands that run across the rounded fuselage down on one side first and only then draw them over with the help of a decal softener. Do not matte the whole model at the end, just even the sheen out gently so that the metal surfaces stay alive.
This is a decal set, not a kit. The model, paints and varnishes are not included in the package.
