About product

Vickers-Armstrong wz. E with a 7TP turret, prototype 1:35 - a Mirage Hobby kit

A plastic kit in 1:35 scale from the Polish maker Mirage Hobby. The subject is the conceptual, prototype guise of the light tank Vickers-Armstrong in the wz. E version, completed with a turret corresponding to the 7TP tank with a 37 mm Bofors gun. It is a combination that came about during the development stage rather than a standard production machine. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.

The real subject

The light tank Vickers-Armstrong, also known as the Vickers 6-Ton, was a widespread export type in the interwar period and became the starting point for several derived designs. The Polish 7TP grew out of it and differed from the British pattern above all in its powerplant and in the single-turret guise with a 37 mm Bofors gun. The machine captured by this kit corresponds to a transitional, prototype configuration: a chassis and hull of British origin with a turret to the standard of the later Polish type. Its hallmarks are the leaf-spring suspension of the running gear, riveted joints and the low silhouette of the hull.

Building and painting tips

Assemble and paint the running gear before you close the hull up, because once it is glued you will not reach it. Seat the wheels and the rollers on a flat surface so that the model stands level once finished and the track sits properly. Fill and sand the seams on the hull before the primer goes on, and with riveted structures work carefully so that the rivets are not sanded away. Apply the base shade thinly and build up graded coats, otherwise a model in 1:35 scale looks flat. Bring out the engraving with a run-in wash and apply dust and mud to the running gear with pigments from the bottom up and with restraint. The gun and the vision ports show to advantage in a dark shade with a subtle emphasis of the edges.

Who the model is for

  • Anyone interested in interwar armor and prototype designs
  • Modelers who build vehicles in 1:35 scale
  • Builders of dioramas from the end of the 1930s
  • Collectors of derived versions of the light Vickers tank

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

The name describes a prototype, conceptual guise. It is not a standard production version.

The chassis and the hull come from the British Vickers-Armstrong type, while the turret corresponds to the later Polish guise with a Bofors gun.

The number of parts and the contents of the package are given on the box and in the enclosed instructions.

Even a less experienced builder can manage it, provided he takes trouble over the running gear. It is best finished before the hull is closed up.
