Tow pintles for vehicles of the M60 family in 1:35 scale from the maker ELEFANT. A set of ten castings for detailing kits rather than a model of a vehicle.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory set in 1:35 scale from the maker ELEFANT. It contains ten pieces of the tow pintle used on vehicles of the American M60 family. It is neither a model of a vehicle nor a kit; it is a set of replacement details that a modeler uses instead of a coarser part from a plastic kit, or to complete vehicles where the pintle is missing from the base kit. The count of ten pieces follows directly from the name.
The tow pintle is one of those elements that are pronouncedly shaped on the real vehicle and tend to be simplified in a plastic kit because of the injection molding technology. A cast accessory makes it possible to capture the shape of the jaw and of the latch more faithfully and with sharper edges. Ten pieces in a package cover the usual need for several vehicles and leave a reserve in case a small part is damaged while being cut off.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent so that mold release agent residue is removed, because without that neither paint nor glue holds reliably. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a sharp knife, never with nippers: small castings crack when squeezed. They are glued with cyanoacrylate, as cement for plastic has no effect on them. Remove the original plastic part from the model and level the area so that the pintle sits in the right position and plane. It is best to paint only after a primer has been applied; a small metal element shows to advantage when the edges are brought out after the base shade and a wash is let into the recesses. Sand wet and with respiratory protection.
This is an accessory set, not a kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
