An accessory set in 1:35 scale from the maker ELEFANT. It contains an antenna trough together with its brackets, rendered with a wood texture, in the version for vehicles without the Schürzen side plates. According to the name the package is enough for two vehicles. It is not a kit of a tank but a replacement for a small exterior element that in plastic kits tends to be simplified or missing altogether.
The antenna trough is a lengthwise rail on the side of the hull into which the folded-down rod antenna was laid so that it would not be damaged while driving. On the real vehicles it was wooden, so the surface had visible growth rings and in time it wore and got dirty. It is precisely this texture that the casting carries, which fundamentally changes the impression on a finished model: wood is painted differently from a steel hull and on the dark side of a vehicle it works as a pronounced contrasting element. The version without side plates corresponds to vehicles on which the Schürzen were not fitted, so the trough stays fully visible.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent and let them dry. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw rather than nippers so that the slender rail does not crack. Glue it with cyanoacrylate and before it dries check that the trough follows the side of the hull along its whole length. Paint the wooden texture onto a light base, then apply glazes and fine oil artwork in the direction of the grain; the growth rings are best underlined with a fine line rather than an overall wash. Set the metal brackets apart in a darker shade with a light emphasis of the edges. Finally even the surface out and add dust where it would settle on the vehicle.
