Historical figures in 1:72 scale from the maker Red Box. The set is focused on an English naval gun crew of the 16th and 17th centuries and serves as an addition to a scene, not as a standalone model of equipment. It will find a use in a diorama as well as on a game table, where the figures are used as individual elements of a formation. The exact contents of the package are stated on the box.
While a single piece is composed around its crew, a battery is read by the spacing. When you are building several pieces side by side, keep the same distance between them and vary the figures so that two neighboring stations are not at an identical stage of the task, one at loading, the other at aiming. A shore emplacement calls for a level area, reserve ammunition off to one side and an access route along which the scene extends beyond the base. It is precisely a suggested route out of the diorama that gives a static group the impression of activity under way.
After cleaning up the seams, apply the primer and start from the largest areas toward the detail. With the clothing a procedure from a darker tone to a lighter one works: the base, a layer of lighter paint only on the raised places and finally a thin line of the lightest tone on the edges of the folds. Keep the flesh areas a shade darker than would seem right; at a small scale light tones optically wash out. For the metal parts a dark steel color complemented by a spot of sheen is enough, as metallic paint across the whole surface tends rather to flatten a scene in 1:72.
The set is supplied unpainted. Paints, glue, bases and terrain material are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
