1:24 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXc

Decals 1:24 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXc (Kits-World)

A sheet of decals in 1:24 scale for a model of the fighter aircraft Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXc. It is neither a kit nor an add-on part: the contents of the package are a printed sheet with which markings are transferred onto a finished and painted model. The decals are not applied by gluing but by soaking and transferring the carrier film onto a varnished surface.

The maker makes several sheets for the same type of aircraft and their names differ only in details. When choosing, go by the exact product designation and the part number.

Application

• The base has to be glossy. On matte paint a decal silvers, because air gets under the film.
• Cut the decal out close to the printing, which reduces the area of visible film.
• Soak it briefly in lukewarm water and let it rest on a towel until the film releases from the backing by itself.
• For riveting and panel lines use a softener in two light layers, never in one heavy one.
• Do not interfere with a decal that has started to set, as a softened film tears and cannot be repaired.
• Once it is completely dry, go over it with a matte or satin varnish, which will hide the edges of the film.

Who it is for

For modelers who build in the large 1:24 scale and want markings other than those the sheet enclosed with a kit offers. At this scale the individual decals are large and are easily creased or crumpled while being transferred, so it pays off to work with a mat and a soft brush instead of tweezers.

Decals are not a kit. A model, paints, varnish and a softener are not included in the package.
