The de Havilland Mosquito was a British twin-engine aircraft of largely wooden construction, used in many roles. The B Mk.IV version was an unarmed bomber and the PR Mk.IV a reconnaissance machine; both relied on speed instead of defensive armament. The Mosquito cabin holds two men and its forward part is easy to see under the large glazing, so detail on the instrument panel is worth the effort on a model.
A relief decal differs from a flat one in having a thickness of its own. The base therefore has to be smooth and gloss, otherwise air will be trapped under the decal and the surface will silver. Cut the decal as close as you can, release it in lukewarm water and seat it on its target surface without needless sliding. Apply the softener drop by drop along the edges and let it work by itself, leaving the decal undisturbed for at least 45 minutes; do not run a brush over the relief, or the raised details will be squashed or torn off. When it is dry, go over the surroundings with matte varnish and leave the dials themselves gloss, so that they read as glass.
