A decal sheet for the de Havilland Canada DHC-1 Chipmunk in 1:48 scale. The range of markings and the particular machines are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Responsibility details are not available.
The DHC-1 Chipmunk is a two-seat Canadian-built trainer with a piston engine and tandem seating. It came into being shortly after the Second World War as a successor to older biplane trainers and served for basic pilot training; a large part of the examples later passed into civilian hands, so the Chipmunk still flies today with flying clubs and in museum collections. That is exactly why it is a rewarding subject for modelers looking for a colorful machine outside the usual combat types.
It is a decal sheet for this type in 1:48 scale. Check in the manufacturer's instructions which particular machines and which markings the sheet covers; that will tell you whether its content matches the kit you have at home.
Before you wet the sheet, check the instructions to see whether it is a self-adhesive version; a soaked self-adhesive film is ruined and cannot be saved. With an ordinary wet decal, proceed in the usual way: cut the motif out together with the edge of the carrier film, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it rest until it begins to slide freely. Apply it onto smooth gloss varnish, squeeze the surplus water out with a soft cloth and finally go over it with matte varnish so that the edges disappear.
The sheet will be of use to builders of the Chipmunk in 1:48 scale for whom the markings from the box are not enough, and to modelers who want to build several machines of the same type side by side. Working with it is easy and even a beginner who has one decal behind him can manage it. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
