A printed display base for a model in 1:144 scale, 225 x 225 mm. It shows a surface made up of pierced steel planks that became known as PSP or Marston Mat. It is neither a kit nor a decal: it is a finished base on which you stand a completed model.
The motif is the regular structure of elongated steel planks with rows of circular holes that interlock along their edges. This type of surface was used wherever a muddy or sandy area had to be firmed up quickly to make a usable runway or hardstand without concreting. How the surface ages is characteristic as well: grass grows up between the planks, deposits of earth build up around the stands and the holes silt in.
