A color display base for a model in 1:144 scale, 225 x 225 mm. It carries a print of an airfield surface, so the model does not stand on a bare shelf but on a base that matches its size. At 1:144 scale a 225 x 225 mm square covers an area of roughly 32 x 32 meters of real airfield, which with small models is more than enough even for parked machines side by side.
The subject is the air base of the Polish Air Force at Minsk Mazowiecki, specifically the 23rd Air Base. The artwork captures the characteristic division of the concrete areas and their coloring, so the model gets a setting that belongs to it without your having to build a whole diorama.
Lay the base on a flat board and let it settle before first use so that it flattens out. When photographing, light it from the side rather than from above; side light brings out the texture of the surface and the model stops looking as though it were floating. Simply stand the model on it; nothing has to be glued, so the base can be swapped between several machines. Store it flat or loosely rolled, because a sharp crease would stay visible in the print.
It will be appreciated by collectors and modelers who photograph finished models in 1:144 scale and want to see them on an airfield surface, and by those who display models in a case and are looking for a simple way of separating them visually. Against building a diorama it is an undemanding solution and reversible at any time. The model, figures and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
