This motif differs from the rest of the range in that it is not a land airfield but the deck of a ship. That brings with it different artwork for the surface and different surroundings for the model, and within a collection of bases it stands out as a distinct change. The placing in the year 2020 means a modern state, that is one matching the hardware of present-day carrier aviation.
With a deck motif the edge of the base is part of the subject rather than a distraction, because a deck really does end somewhere. That is exactly why it pays to align the base flush with the edge of the plinth or the board, so that the transition looks deliberate. If you place the model nearer the edge of the area, the scene gains a tension that no ordinary airfield stand creates. Measure your model in advance including any extended surfaces and with the wings folded if applicable, so that you know how much room it will actually take on the elevator.
