An injection-molded plastic kit of the German heavy railroad flatcar of the SSkra Köln type with a load capacity of 48 tons in 1:35 scale, made by T-Model. This is a modern, broken-down mold. The car serves as a base and a means of transport for a tank or other heavy hardware, which makes it an ideal companion to armored models in a diorama.
The Schwerer Plattformwagen (heavy flatcar) of the SSkra type was a German four-axle railroad car with a low deck, intended to carry heavy loads: tanks, guns and industrial machinery. The designation Köln refers to the series of these cars. During the Second World War practically all heavy hardware traveled long distances by rail, because moving under its own power would have worn the tanks out and held them up. The low deck with its sturdy axles and tie-down fittings made it possible to secure a load safely for a long journey.
Finish and paint the bogies, the axles and the underframe first, and only then complete the deck. Glue the plastic with a thin polystyrene cement and clean up the parting lines. Spray a primer before painting; shades of gray, black and rust suit railroad hardware, and the deck planks can be painted as wood. The car will take pronounced weathering: rust on the metal parts, weathered planks, oily and dusty traces. If you set a tank on the car, match the weathering of both models so that the scene looks of a piece.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
