A decal sheet in 1:48 scale with the markings of Mohawk IV machines, tied to the period of the years 1941 to 1943. Printed markings manage sharp edges on the small numbers and lettering where a brush would bleed in this scale. Which particular machines are covered and where the individual items belong is shown by the drawing supplied by the manufacturer.
Mohawk is the British designation of the American Curtiss Hawk 75 series fighter, that is a type with a radial engine, retractable landing gear and a low-set wing. The Royal Air Force took these machines over from originally French orders and used them outside the European theater, where older types were still serviceable. Compared with later fighters the Mohawk had a lower speed but was agile and undemanding to maintain in the field.
First go over the area under a decal with clear gloss varnish, otherwise a light haze stays around the print: on a matte surface air is trapped under the film. Cut the item out close to the edge, dip it briefly in lukewarm water and let it rest until it will slide off the paper. Bring it to its place still on the paper and slide it off only there. Press the water out with a soft brush from the center outward, soak up the rest and go over the surface with varnish again once it is dry.
The model, paints, varnishes and softener are not included, unless stated otherwise.
