Sandpaper, 400, 500 and 600 grit is a set of abrasive papers from the brand Wamod in three grits for finishing plastic models. The numbers in the name denote the coarseness of the grit, not a scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of abrasive papers in three consecutive grits covers the part of sanding where the marks left by the mold parting line, the remains of sprue gates and sanded-back filler are taken off a model. The numbers 400, 500 and 600 in the name are the designation of the coarseness of the grit: the higher the number, the finer the paper and the smoother the surface after sanding. Three grits make it possible to work in steps, which is the only way to reach a smooth surface with no scratches.
Always work from coarser to finer, that is 400, then 500 and finally 600; a skipped step gives itself away only under the paint, when the scratches from the coarser paper come out. It pays to back the paper with a block or a strip, so that the area being sanded stays flat and no hollows appear. On plastic, wet sanding works well: the paper is dipped in water with a drop of detergent, the sanding dust does not stick and the surface is cleaner. Degrease the model and clear the sanding dust off it before spraying. Sanding plastic and filler dry over a larger area without respiratory protection is not advisable.
The dimensions of the sheets and their number in the package follow the manufacturer's details on the packaging. Protect your airways when sanding dry.
